After the game, everyone came back to our house for brunch. We made coconut waffles with an apricot-honey compote and a frittata with zucchini from our garden and a fantastic faux sausage T found (it’s made by a company called Field Roast). I also made Mai Tais, which were fantastic—not that syrupy sweet crap passed off by most bars. Here's the Mai Tai recipe I used (I used vanilla-almond syrup rather than orgeat syrup and simple syrup.) Oh, and of course, coffee.
After everyone left, T and Lily went to a birthday party for one of Lily’s friends and I drowsed on the couch next to an open window, enjoying the cool Autumn breeze and the sound of leaves being blown around. When I woke up, T and Lily were back and the three of us spent the rest of the day hanging around the house, reading, watching movies, etc.
This morning, Lily seems to have the flu and is curled up on the couch under a pile of blankets. I’m sad that she’s sick, but it’s pretty relaxing for me to be able to sit on the couch next to her reading and still feel like I’m being a good mother.
Hurray for bunchball! Sounds like a fabulous weekend, you deserve it!
