Chapters 1, 3, and 4 are with my committee. Chapters 2, 5, and 6 are completely drafted and I am revising them according to my advisor’s feedback—they should be with my committee soon. In other words, the complete dissertation, minus the abstract, acknowledgments, bibliography, and appendices, is drafted. I’ve started drafting the acknowledgments; the bibliography is pretty much done but needs some major format-checking; and the appendices don’t really need to be drafted because they are simply the syllabus, assignments, and student consent form for the course in which I did my research. I’ve been
really compulsive about updating the table of contents with every chapter revision, so that won’t be a big deal to finish up when the chapters are approved by my committee.
There was
a meme a while ago about the last word of your dissertation. I don’t know if this will change or not, but the last word in the draft of my dissertation is “revision,” which makes sense because the dissertation is about revision.
I’m close enough to being done that I can actually imagine a post-dissertation life for myself. Aaaaaah.
