    Surviving Work

(rules as they come to me)

    1. If a meeting has a specified end time, leave at that time, even if the meeting isn't over.
    2. If a meeting does not have a specified end time, call the meeting convener and ask when the meeting will end. Leave at the specified end time.
    3. Bring something to work on in case the meeting starts late.

Heard an amazing story on This American Life today about the Jarvis family. I can't help thinking that my tax dollars are not being used very efficiently in the government's hunting down and prosecution of this family. The parents are clearly better

    the agony and the ecstasy

    Monday, 25 April 2005 9:30 P GMT-07
It's really too bad that responding to student work is so arduous because if it weren't for the time-consuming nature of it and the fact that it makes my neck, hands, shoulders, and back cramp up (cue the violins), I could focus fully on how rewardin

    Mysteries I'm Pondering Today

    Thursday, 14 April 2005 11:59 P GMT-07
Why do hotel showers never have enough water pressure? It takes me five minutes in a hotel shower just to get my big hair wet. By then, there's no more hot water. Why are petite pants always 1" too short for me? This makes no sense whatsoever--I

    Friday, 8 April 2005 10:52 P GMT-07
Apparently, if you want your child to eat a vegetarian diet at school in Colorado, you need your doctor's permission. That would be just fine with me if other kinds of diets needed to be permitted by a doctor, but do you think that's the case? Nooooo
