    Surviving Work

(rules as they come to me)

    1. If a meeting has a specified end time, leave at that time, even if the meeting isn't over.
    2. If a meeting does not have a specified end time, call the meeting convener and ask when the meeting will end. Leave at the specified end time.
    3. Bring something to work on in case the meeting starts late.

We leave for a two-day road trip to Illinois tomorrow. Lily has a brand new cousin who was born there on June 27. I love road trips and usually spend at least half a day planning, shopping for, and making fabulous food for the trip. I’m a big b

    Lily's stage debut

    Friday, 22 June 2007 12:27 P GMT-07
I've never been so proud in my life! Lily performed in 101 Dalmations tonight. She remembered all her lines, she projected, her timing was solid. . . . I was so nervous about all sorts of ridiculous things. What if she had to pee in the middle of

Jenny’s post about the postpartum body got me reflecting on how pregnancy changed my body. Lily just turned five, so I am five years past pregnancy. I trained for and ran a marathon right before I got pregnant, so I was in the best shape of my

    The Penelopiad

    Tuesday, 19 June 2007 9:12 A GMT-07
I finished Margaret Atwood’s The Penelopiad last night. The book tells of the experiences of Penelope and her maids during Odysseus’s 20 year absence from Ithaca. (Digression: When I was in the 5th grade, my class did a performance of Ody

    Sunday, 10 June 2007 7:04 P GMT-07
