    Surviving Work

(rules as they come to me)

    1. If a meeting has a specified end time, leave at that time, even if the meeting isn't over.
    2. If a meeting does not have a specified end time, call the meeting convener and ask when the meeting will end. Leave at the specified end time.
    3. Bring something to work on in case the meeting starts late.

    Tuesday, 31 July 2007 9:07 A GMT-07
July 17 was a sad day; that was the day I had to send my beloved Capresso coffee center back to the manufacturer for repairs. Since then, I’ve been using one of these to make coffee. It makes good coffee—excellent coffee, actually. But it

I finished Margaret Atwood’s Alias Grace last night, reading the last 200 pages in one sitting—not taking breaks for body functions or even to turn the light on when the sunlight coming in the window became dim--because I just couldn&rsqu

    Tuesday, 3 July 2007 11:24 A GMT-07
I just finished reviewing a textbook manuscript for a publisher. I really enjoy reviewing textbook manuscripts. I admit that I originally began doing them years ago because they pay so much better than teaching does (my hourly rate for reviews is abo
