At least he nominated a woman. I'm not saying she's the best woman for the job (I'm not even saying she's a woman qualified for the job). I'm just saying that after Roberts was nominated I said, "He could have at least nominated a woman." And now he has.
However, I am mightily disappointed that this woman appears to be qualified solely by her loyalty to Bush.
Good links for Common Ground tomorrow:
- 3 fabulous articles at slate.com
- David Corn on the lack of a paper trail for Miers
- thought-provoking post at DailyKos
- Eleanor Smeal, of course, has (what a think is) an even-handed examination of what we actually know of Miers (OK, here's a tangent, but Eleanor Smeal is an active political blogger, well known among many women, etc., etc., but somehow whenever the mainstream media talks about how there are no women pundits, her name never comes up. Huh?) One more note on Smeal's post: a male commenter has posted a comment comparing feminists to Hitler. Pretty bizarre.
