I’ve probably written 30 letters of recommendation for students in the past twelve months. While I generally enjoy writing letters of recommendation, I do get pretty irritated when I’m given about five minutes notice or I end up feeling like I put more effort and thought into my letter of recommendation than the student did into her/his entire application packet. Today I did something I’ve been meaning to do for a while—I wrote up
instructions for students who want me to write them letters of recommendation. I posted it on
my brand new class blog, which takes the place of onemorething, the blog-city blog I used for my classes for about a year. I’m using blogger for the new class blog in part because I’ll be using blogger for my students’ blogs in the fall now that blog-city is phasing out free blogs.
