too much work

I wondered a couple weeks ago if this semester was actually busier than others. I think it is. Yesterday I put in 12 hours, today I put in 13, and I am still behind. And every week has been like this since August 20. I think I usually have one or two days a week that are 12+ hours or maybe three long weeks spread through the semester, but this semester it’s like this every week. I’m getting tired.

So why are my days/weeks so long this semester?

• I’m still learning all the things I am responsible for as Part Time Lead.
• I am teaching four classes in addition to coordinating a program and serving as Part Time Lead.
• I foolishly decided to revamp all but one assignment in both my comp 1 and comp 2 classes.
• I foolishly decided to assign several novels in my lit class that I either haven’t read or haven’t read in a long time and need to review pretty thoroughly.

I am also working on a textbook manuscript, but I’m not including the work on that as “work” technically because it’s not part of my load. If I included that, I would probably faint at seeing the number of hours I’m putting in each week.
