Urban Outfitters sucks because

- They are in malls now. Not very urban. More like Suburban Outfitters. I remember back when the store actually was located only in urban areas—DC’s Georgetown neighborhood, Chicago’s Miracle Mile—and only in storefronts. Now it’s in the mall. A mall is not urban, even if it is in a city. A mall is a piece of suburbia in the middle of a city.
- The owner has made donations of over $10,000 to Rick Santorum of man-on-dog fame, which completely undermines any “gay friendly” vibes the store tries to put out. Basically, as Isebrand.com puts it so eloquently, “money generated by [Urban Outfitters and sister company Anthropologie] goes to support politicians like Sen. Rick Santorum.” What’s particularly obnoxious is that Urban Outfitters tries to appeal to liberals and then takes the money those liberals spend in their stores and turns around and gives it to anti-abortion, anti-gay rights causes.
